The Primary Protagonist

Clear water flowing through a stream at the tree line of the 70-hectare Agaporia estate, moss-covered rocks rising from the bed. The Source of Life at the regenerative five-star sanctuary in Montefollonico, Tuscany.

The Biological Engine™ is the living system beneath the whole estate. Biodiversity will rise, carbon will move back into the soil, and the ground will recover the vigour that decades of use took out of it.

None of that could be claimed until it had been described. The condition of this ground was set down in April 2026: soil biology, water, what grows above and what lives below. Without a starting point there is no measure to hold a claim against.

Sixteen hectares are out of production permanently. The other fifty-four are under regenerative stewardship, with soil, water and biodiversity read against that first record every season.

The buildings enter the same account. Straw, cork, mycelium, hemp and lime, each of them alive a season before becoming a wall, each holding the carbon it took from the air for as long as the wall stands. Ground and structure resolve to one figure.

To arrive here is to enter that recovery. The health of the land and the vitality of the people on it are one measure.
