The Steward Community

Close-frame of grafting shears holding a young scion, exposed wood at the cut. The Steward Community of The Conscious Club at the regenerative five-star Agaporia estate. Field Intervention as the ancestral skill that joins traditional rootstock to new growth.

A stay ends. Becoming nature positive does not, and neither does the work of bringing a world into being where Nature has standing.

Stewards receive the estate’s annual figures on publication, in the years the numbers rise and the years the numbers fall. The same document goes to everyone, and no edited version exists.

They come back for the work. A planting week in November. A day counting species with the research team, on your knees in a field with a clipboard, which is a strange way to spend a Tuesday and which almost everyone who tries it asks to do again.

And once a year we ask what you would do differently. A student who spent a summer here sees what a chief executive does not, and the reverse holds as well. Both answers arrive in the same place and carry the same weight.

What grows out of that is more useful than a guest list. A few hundred people in different countries who know how one hillside is doing, who argue about the method, and who carry what they learn into whatever they run, teach, farm or fund.

At COP26 in Glasgow, Sir David Attenborough told the room that a species able to destabilise a planet while working apart must, working together, be « powerful enough to save it ».

The Steward Community is that sentence, made small enough to act on.

Four percent of every room rate has already gone before you arrive. Membership is not a purchase. It is the recognition of something your stay has already done, and an invitation to keep going.
