Ecuador put the rights of Nature into its constitution in 2008, the first country to do so. More than a hundred and fifty laws since have given rivers, forests and oceans the standing to be defended in court.

At the same time, nearly two hundred countries have committed to halting and reversing the loss of Nature by 2050. That movement began long before Agaporia and will continue long after.

A cause of this size is never finished. There is no year in which the work is done.

That is precisely what makes it worth beginning.

Every hotel now has a sustainability page. Very few count the consequences of their operations, and fewer still publish a figure that could come back worse.
